Eternal Spirit Deliverance Center

My name is Gemma Mohammed. I am the Senior Pastor of Eternal Spirit Deliverance Center at Arena Road Freeport, Trinidad and Tobago. I have been happily married to my husband, Nazab, since April 1982. We have two daughters, Felina and Sheerlina. Felina is happily married to Jonathan Sookharry since 2003 and they both minister to youths in Trinidad and Tobago. Sheerlina is currently attending Bryan college in the USA.

My husband, Nazab, was previously a Muslim and I (previously Catholic) began a small church in our home in the midst of a Hindu community. I have been a pastor for 10 years and the church now has 50 or so dedicated Christians.

My ancestors came from India to Trinidad shortly after 1900. They were practicing Hindus and Muslims and most still are even today. My father was a Hindu, although my mother was Muslim. As a child, my godmother (who was Roman Catholic) took me to church frequently. My parents were in agreement because they believed that all religions led to one god.

In due course (at 21 years of age), I was invited to visit a Pentecostal Church in Freeport village. I found the preaching very reasonable and appealing; I began to go regularly. In a few weeks, I felt this minister was speaking the words of God to my heart and gave my life to Christ and joined the church in 1981.

I got married about six months later and my new husband was Muslim. He asked me to not go to church until we moved into our own home, since we were living with his Muslim family. As a result, I was not frequently involved with my church for several years.

In 1991, we bought our own home and I began going to church again. Within three weeks, I was baptized, filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in tongues. I was so deeply committed to God that I decided to go to the West Indies School of Theology (for two years) in Maracas Valley. I graduated in 1995 and began helping local ministers in planting and nurturing churches.

In 1999, my Pastor asked me to form a Bible study group in my home. I did so and this led to my ordination as a minister and the establishment of a church in my home (garage). At Eternal Spirit Deliverance Center, we focus on deliverance, healing and miracles are a common occurrence.
